How to Redo old caulk

Have you ever just were washing your hands, and suddenly noticed how dirty it looks around your sink, you've tried cleaning it to no avail and it just still looks so ugly because of the caulk around your sink or tub.Caulk is used to seal water and prevent mold around your sink and tub but in time it can shrink break down and lose its effectiveness.

This short tutorial will show you how to fix that and refresh your sink with a clean look.
this was my sink. after i already started scraping the caulk off

Materials......

• Bathroom cleaner
• Sponge
• Scraper
• Caulk

(optional caulk gun)

step 1.

 I used the bathroom cleaner to wet the caulk and start breaking it down as well as clean the area. ensure to get all the old caulk off using the scraper to get any hard to remove areas. I've tried 

this once before without one and it was very time consuming.

step 2.

Use a paper towel to dry off the faucet area getting it ready to apply the new caulk.

step 3.

Start putting a bead of caulk around the faucet.

The best way to do this is to go slowly, its not important to get it exactly straight as i will show you in the next step why.

I did not have a caulk gun and it was very hard to squeeze it in a line.

step 4.

Next take your finger and start smoothing out the caulk into a neater line around the sink. I wet my fingertip occasionally doing this and it helped with getting a smooth result and removing the excess caulk.

step 5.

Next I used a damp paper towel to really clean it up.

Easy Peasy....

5 steps and the sink looks so much better, what was a very old faucet fixture now looks almost new!

This quick fix is also a good option if your a renter like myself in a old home that can use a few renter friendly updates.

This was so easy that anyone with very little diy skills can easily do.
